About the project

A global construction equipment manufacturer engaged PerformaCode to develop a web-based configuration platform for selecting protective cable sleeves used in field installation workflows. The system transformed engineering and product-selection rules into a guided workflow that helped users identify suitable products based on project-specific parameters.

The platform combined configuration logic, product ranking, PDF generation, 3D visualization, and administrative workflows in one application. Users could enter installation parameters, compare recommended sleeve configurations, generate supporting documentation, and access automatically generated visuals tied to product specifications.

PerformaCode delivered the platform end to end, including business requirements analysis, UI/UX design, backend and frontend development, DevOps, testing, and secure integration into the client’s internal application ecosystem. The engagement also included a supporting visualization workflow that generated labeled 3D product imagery used directly inside the configuration experience.

The project evolved through multiple phases, expanding from a standalone configuration workflow into a more integrated internal tool with stronger authentication, administrative controls, and infrastructure integration.

Client challenges

The client needed to turn a specialist-driven selection process into software without losing the engineering logic behind it. Sleeve recommendations had to depend on cable parameters, quantity, product constraints, suitability rules, pricing logic, and available specification data, not on a generic product catalogue search.

The workflow was fragmented across several steps: collecting input data, identifying compatible sleeve options, preparing visual references, generating documentation, and passing the result into internal systems. The new tool had to make those steps behave as one controlled configuration flow rather than a set of manual checks.

The visualization layer added another technical dependency. Product images were not just decorative UI assets; they had to correspond to selected configurations, be labeled consistently, and remain maintainable through an admin workflow as new options were added.

The client also needed the application to fit existing enterprise constraints from the start. Authentication, user management, email notifications, PDF generation, cloud storage, verification, CI/CD, and deployment had to follow internal infrastructure and risk-assessment rules.

The project required a team able to work across requirements analysis, selection algorithms, Java backend services, Angular frontend logic, AWS storage, Docker-based deployment, manual verification, and 3D asset preparation. That combination made it more than a standard web application build.

Tasks performed

  • Designed the architecture and UI according to the client’s risk-assessment guidelines for secure infrastructure integration.
  • Built the web application modules for user authentication, client management, admin workflows, PDF generation, and email notifications.
  • Developed a selector algorithm to rank the best-fit sleeve options based on input parameters, product constraints, suitability, and pricing logic.
  • Implemented Angular frontend workflows for parameter entry, ranked recommendations, admin operations, and generated documentation.
  • Built Java/Play Framework backend services for configuration handling, business logic, authentication, user workflows, and email integration.
  • Added AWS S3 storage workflows for specifications, uploaded images, generated assets, and admin-managed content.
  • Created and labeled 100+ 3D component models based on specification files and reference images.
  • Built a 3D image-generation workflow for product visuals used inside the sleeve configuration experience.
  • Integrated generated 3D visuals with selected configurations so users could review recommended options with matching images and specifications.
  • Implemented PDF generation workflows to turn selected parameters and recommended products into shareable configuration documentation.
  • Integrated the platform with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and client infrastructure for controlled build, verification, and deployment.
  • Performed test strategy development and manual functional verification across selection logic, admin workflows, generated outputs, and end-to-end application behavior.

Project results

Days-to-minutes sleeve selection

Reduced a manual multi-day selection process to minutes by implementing a rules-based selector that captured cable parameters, applied product constraints, and returned ranked sleeve options.

Unified workflow from input to PDF

Combined input capture, product ranking, 3D visuals, specification data, and PDF generation into one configuration flow, removing separate lookup, visualization, and documentation steps.

100+ labeled 3D models

Created and labeled more than 100 component models from specification files and reference images, giving the selector a reusable visual asset base.

Top 3 recommended products

Returned the three best-fit product options by applying selection logic to cable diameter, quantity, suitability rules, pricing logic, and available product data.

Admin-managed asset updates

Moved specification, image, and generated-asset updates into one unified admin workflow backed by AWS S3, reducing developer dependency for routine content changes.

CI/CD-based deployment flow

Standardized build, verification, and deployment through Docker and CI/CD pipelines, reducing manual release handling across the client’s infrastructure.

End-to-end workflow verification

Validated the selector, admin panel, PDF output, email notifications, 3D visuals, and integration behavior through test strategy development and manual functional testing.

Value we bring

Turning expert logic into application behavior

Many industrial and engineering workflows depend on specialist knowledge spread across spreadsheets, specifications, product catalogs, tribal knowledge, and manual checks. We turn those workflows into software by formalizing decision rules, constraints, and dependencies into structured inputs, algorithms, validation logic, and usable outputs that remain consistent across users and teams.

Structuring complex product data into usable workflows

Industrial product data rarely lives in one clean format or one reliable system. Specifications, catalogue records, images, compatibility rules, pricing logic, generated assets, and admin updates often move separately and change at different speeds. We design tools that normalize those inputs into controlled data flows, so configuration logic, visuals, documents, and user-facing outputs stay consistent as the underlying product data evolves.

Owning the full path from rule to deployment

Engineering tools usually fail when algorithm logic, UI behavior, documents, cloud storage, testing, and deployment are handled as separate mini-projects. We connect those layers early: requirements become selection logic, selection logic drives user flows and generated outputs, outputs are verified, and the whole system is deployed inside the client’s infrastructure with CI/CD, access control, and testing in place.
